How Is an Asphalt Shingle Roof Installed?

Every project begins with a complete inspection of the substrate and ends with a final check and thorough site cleanup.

1. Tear-off of the Old Covering: The existing shingles, flashings, and any deteriorated material are removed to expose the decking.

2. Inspection and Repair of the Decking: The wood substrate is inspected and any damaged sections are replaced before installation begins.

3. Installation of the Underlayment: A moisture-barrier underlayment membrane is installed across the entire surface for added protection against water infiltration.

4. Installation of the Flashings: Metal flashings are placed around chimneys, vents, and other penetrations to prevent water infiltration.

5. Installation of the Shingles: Shingles are nailed row by row, following the manufacturer's required overlaps.

6. Finishing and Inspection: Ridges, hips, and flashings are completed, then the entire surface is inspected before the final cleanup.
